|Clinton Cash Was First Bush Sr.'s Billions|
Buried deep in the collapse of the Soviet Union is George H.W. Bush's successful attempt to obtain the maximum amount of Soviet weapons-grade uranium.
A project dubbed "megatons into megawatts," the Bush Administration's corporate warriors signed a deal in 1992 with Russia to obtain five tons of enriched uranium over the next 20 years.
The White House also decided that the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) would be the sole agent authorized to buy the uranium from Russia.
Not only was USEC a private and state-owned business which enjoyed the legal privileges of paying no taxes, but it had given hefty donations to the Republican Party and Bush Sr.'s campaign.
Years before U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cashed-in on a "conspiracy of silence" over an exchange of uranium with Iran worth $250,000, there was first Bush's billions.
The Bush Administration's initial goal for chief architecture Thomas Neff's "megatons into megawatts" was to supposedly prevent a nightmarish scenario of Russia's uranium falling into the hands of a rogue nation or terrorist organization.
But a detailed article in the Wall Street Journal Europe-which somehow seemed to disappear in the U.S. press-reported that, "White House officials have become so enamoured of making a maximum profit on the (uranium) deal that they have lost sight of the prime goal."
(1) On closer examination, the project was overtaken by bureaucratic greed and profit. The uranium was also used for geopolitical maneuvering. Public utilities which produced nuclear energy accused USEC of charging high prices for its uranium.
Despite lawsuits accusing the state corporation of price gouging, lobbyists pressed for a waiver of liability from all impending lawsuits. With an overwhelming congressional majority, USEC was exempt from lawsuits.
The federal Commerce Department also allowed USEC to bypass regulatory laws regarding uranium mining and dumping and foreign sales. This little known program continued under the Clinton and Bush Jr. and Obama Administrations.
Worse than "megatons into megawatts" was how the Presidential Nuclear Initiative-91 concealed Bush's Billions. On the surface, the PNI-91 appeared to decrease nuclear weaponry between the U.S. and Russia.
But for USEC and Bush Sr., uranium production and use was shifted to ammo, tank projectiles, and land-based artillery shells.
Many were used by Bush Sr. and his son, President George W. Bush, in Gulf War One (1991) and the 2003 preemptive invasion and military occupation of Iraq.
(2) The results of uranium enriched weapons dramatically increased cancer rates in Iraq. Thousands of men, women and children have died. Depleted uranium shells have also degraded Iraq's water and soil.
Other political-corporate "holding companies" hid Bush Sr.'s insidious secret, too, such as the Cooperative Treaty Reduction and On Site Inspection Agency.
For Bush Sr. and his Cold War warriors turned corporate privateers, their political gains and power was due to capitalizing on the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Hillary Clinton, a 2016 presidential frontrunner for the Democratic Party, is just like her predecessors. While touting good causes and concern over human rights violations, she too amassed a fortune from other peoples' suffering and by granting favours to repressive states. As Secretary of State, she also positioned herself within many clandestine national and corporate security agencies.
The political-corporate-financial-military elite have for decades been able to influence short- and long-term capital allocations in the U.S. which, in turn, have tremendous economic and public policy effects on society. Their ability to yield equally powerful influence internationally through the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and World Trade Organization give them unprecedented power to shape economies and social policy throughout the world.
(3) There is nothing new about the just published expose on "Clinton Cash." There are actually numerous untold stories about how and why foreign governments and businesses helped make those in Washington, DC filthy rich.
(4) If "Secrecy, once accepted, becomes addictive,"(5) so, too, can the profit motive. By enriching political coffers with uranium-grade enriched weaponry sales, in Iraq and other war torn regions of the world the dead and dying continue to fill wooden coffins.
